No sliding door possible?
Although a sliding door is actually a much more logical choice than a hinged interior door (see our blog Why choose a sliding door), you do need a side wall in which the sliding door can slide into or in front of. What if you don't have that space?
Then choose elegance!
In this situation, it is no longer necessary to fall back on the old-fashioned door systems with a mounting frame that is finished as standard with a finishing strip around the door opening. A door system with an invisible frame is finished smoothly with the wall because the frame is part of that wall. The hinges are therefore no longer visible when the door is closed.
Invisible door or not
Because architraves are no longer needed along the frameless door opening, the revolving interior door itself also becomes part of the wall. This gives unlimited possibilities for finishing. The simplest thing to do is to paint the door with the same paint as the rest of the wall. Of course, you can also cover it with the same wallpaper, even with a pattern! But you can also make a statement with your door by choosing a completely different colour. So give your imagination free rein.
Choices for an invisible door frame
Before you decide to purchase a door system with a concealed frame, it is a good idea to think in advance about how the interior door should open. The choices here are not only to turn left or right, but also whether you want to push or pull the door open.
So there are actually 4 choices:
push left push right pull left pull right
It should also be noted that only 1 side of the hidden frame is flush with the wall. On the other side, there will be a recess in the wall. This actually makes sense, because your door is never as thick as the wall.
These choices are often made in advance and cannot be changed after purchase. But what if a different layout is suddenly chosen, because it turns out to be a bit more convenient. Then you suddenly have a door system that turns the wrong way...
Flexible
Fortunately, there are now also invisible door frames that can be adjusted completely flexibly, even at the very last moment of the actual installation. The concealed frame system is designed in such a way that it can be turned in all directions, horizontally and vertically. This even applies to the supplied door! Previously this was only possible with an opening height of 200 cm and 210 cm, but now it is also possible with a height of 230 cm. Extremely suitable for use in new-build homes!
Easy installation
Of course, everything starts with the simplicity of installation. There are door frames that are supplied as a kit, but it is much easier to opt for a ready-made invisible door system. By this we mean systems that are already completely assembled as a frame and are supplied in a large flat box. This allows you to start installing immediately. These invisible door frames are available in various heights up to 270 cm, also with doors that reach the ceiling (chic!). But the reversible door systems are also supplied as ready-made frames.
